Taking strong note of the pending cases in police station, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Bani Amin Khan, has directed all police officers to ensure the completion of investigation on pending cases within 14 days and submit a detailed report to him.
Police officials must complete the investigation and submit the challans of the cases into concerned courts, besides giving complete report to him, the IGP said while chairing a special meeting here on Wednesday. The meeting was called to review the performance of all circles of Islamabad Police as well police stations regarding investigation process on pending cases.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SPs of all circles including Nadeem Hussain, Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Ishaq Warracih, Faisal Bashmir Memon, SP (Legal) Javed Iqbal Khattak, all Sub-Divisional Police Officers, Station House Officers and other police officials of Operational Division were also present on the occasion.
Khan also directed to submit an interim report regarding various cases within three days and disposed them off at in fortnight. The IGP directed the police officials to first evaluate the crime trends and then adopt an effective strategy for their elimination. He said that all pending cases of heinous nature of crime, murders should be expedited so that the criminals must be awarded punishments according to law of the land. The IGP also reviewed car-lifting cases in the district and issued directions to the participants of the meeting to deploy policemen in plain clothes at various areas prone to car-lifting to arrest the carjackers.
Khan also directed the police personnel to deploy policemen on the route of airport to ensure protection to those passengers from fraudsters coming in the country or leaving the country. He said that passengers should be provided complete security in co-ordination with the police of adjacent district so that they could reach their destination safely.
The IGP directed DSP Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) and all SHOs to ensure strict patrolling at various points of the city especially outer cordon to curb car-lifting incidents. He also directed all police officials to ensure special measures for effective policing in their respective areas and devise effective strategy to combat crimes.
The IGP also issued directives to arrest the proclaimed offenders and court absconders on priority and said that performance of police officials would be reviewed continuously. The IGP directed all SDPOs and SHOs to listen to public complaints, initiate required legal action and redress them on merit without fear or favour. He said strict action will be taken against a police officer in case of any complaint of highhandedness against him.
Bani Amin Khan also instructed all SHOs to improve their performance to avoid any disciplinary action and said he will not spare the officers remaining unsuccessful in curbing car theft or other incidents of serious crime in their area.
The IGP directed all SPs to visit police pickets in their respective areas, brief the cops deputed there about efficient policing and also listen to their problems. He said that problems of the policemen should be addressed for better output and they would be provided uniforms besides all other facilities. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan informed the IGP that he and SPs of various circles issued show cause notices to 250 officials for not submitting challan of cases in time while disciplinary action was taken against 70 police officers this year.
