Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussein has called for promotion of trade and cultural ties between Iran and Pakistan to strengthen the existing relations between the two countries. He was talking to Iranian Consul General Hassan Dawesh Wand, here at the Iranian Consulate on Thursday. Deputy Consul General Behram Haidari was also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, both the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhance economic and cultural relation between Pakistan and Iran and stressed the need of effective and responsible role of Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan in prevailing situation confronting the region. It was also agreed that the exchange of business and cultural delegations should be strengthened.
Iftikhar said that the government would extend all kind of support to preserve the cultural heritage of both the countries for the guidance of the future generation. He said that after the passage of 18th Constitutional Amendment, the provincial government had increased its agreements with different countries in various sectors. We would enhance our relations in all sectors including trade, commerce, culture and information with Iran, he maintained.
He maintained that the ANP government had protected the country's soil from the militants by adopting multi-dimensional approaches. "We are a peaceful nation, who believe in affection, love and brotherhood and we condemn terrorism in its every form," he said. The Iranian Consul General eulogised the efforts of the KP government in the war against terrorism and militancy.
