Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Zahid Saeed has directed all DCOs to constitute district level committees to promote "Kitchen Gardening" Programme of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. He said this while presiding over the review meeting of the programme held here in Commissioner's office.
DCOs of Chakwal, Jhelum and Attock, Tariq Waqar Bakhshi, Mirza Mehmood ul Hasan and Shakeel Ahmed, EDO Agriculture Hameedullah Shah, Additional Commissioner Chaudhry Habibullah, Horticulturist Muhammad Saleem Akhtar, official of NRSP Malik Fateh Khan and EDOs Agriculture of all Districts attended the meeting.
The Commissioner said, seminars should be arranged in girl schools and colleges to create awareness about cultivation of vegetables at domestic level. The meeting was informed that under this programme seeds of different vegetables normally used in houses regularly were being supplied to the people on subsidised rates by Punjab government. From the first week of August the seeds of winter season vegetables would be provided to the people interested in "Kitchen Gardening".
It was further informed that 900-seed packets would be provided to District Rawalpindi, 1000 packets to Chakwal, 1200 to Attock and 1200-seeds packets would be provided to District Jhelum by Punjab Government. Besides this 2500 packets would be given by NRSP to each District of Rawalpindi Division to promote this programme during next season also.
