Stating that India and Pakistan should show responsibility in checking terror activities, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah said invisible forces are trying to scuttle peace process between the two neighbouring countries.
"Mumbai blasts are not an intelligence failure as has been cleared by Home Minister P. Chidambaram. However, the problem is that there are forces both in India and Pakistan, who do not want peace to return to the sub-continent," Abdullah told reporters on the sidelines of a press meeting, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at SK Cricket Stadium, here. He said India and Pakistan should go ahead with the peace talks despite attempts by forces to create rift between the two countries. "The blasts have happened earlier also when talks between the two nations were in progress. This time also, Foreign Minister of Pakistan is coming for talks. These forces have surfaced again to scuttle the peace process," he said.
Abdullah, who is also the president of JKCA, said both nations are moving forward with peace process and it is a good sign. "Thank Almighty both sides are trying to move forward. This is the test for them to show sincerity towards peace process and find the solutions to problems. They should not talk for the sake of talking," he said adding GoI will have to take serious measures to protect the sites, which are being referred as next targets.
"It is the responsibility of both the countries to check terror activities. I would also want that our neighbouring country (Pakistan) should not allow its soil to be used for terror activities. If their soil continues to be used for terrorism, then unfortunately this whole area will blow up," he warned.
