'Modern Poetry of Pakistan' introduced

Translation editor Waqas Khwaja has introduced 'Modern Poetry of Pakistan', the first anthology of its kind in English in a book entitled "Pakistani Poetry in Translation: Building Bridges Across Cultural and Linguistic Divides" here Monday.
The event was organised by Kuch Khaas, Centre for Arts, Culture and Dialogue as part of its activities to promote Pakistani culture and traditions through art and literary events.
The collection brings together 146 poems translated from seven of the country's major languages (Balochi, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Pashto, Seraiki, Sindhi, and Urdu). The book represents a broad range of ethnic, class and political differentiation, combined to form a beautiful and truly national literature showcasing translations of poetry, both classical and modern, by 44 poets.
