The Commissioner Hyderabad Division Ahmed Bux Narejo has said that the arrangements about the three-day 759th annual urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) at Sehwan Sharif has been finalised in all respects and he directed the district administration and officers of Sindh Police Jamshoro to be vigilant and implement foolproof security plan in letter and spirit and ensure that proceedings urs should be conducted in safe, secure and peaceful atmosphere.
This direction he issued while holding meeting with the officers of Revenue, Police, Auqaf, Local Government and Health departments who are engaged in Mela arrangements at Sehwan Sharif on Wednesday.
The commissioner said that as many as 3500 police personnel in addition to 200 traffic police officials have been deployed to perform their duties at Mela and to control law and order situation and smooth traffic flow at Sehwan Sharif.
He said that in order to avoid any eventuality of terrorists act strict vigilance on the miscreants would be kept and as many as 56 close circuit cameras have been installed at different places for the purpose. He also inaugurated Display Centre for close circuit cameras established at D.S.P. office.
He said that in addition to that intelligence network has been more activated to curb the culprits before they commit the crime. He said to facilitate the devotees the flow of heavy traffic has been diverted toward National Highway while traffic signs and reflectors have also been installed on the Indus Highway to avoid any traffic incident. However, he said that to meet any eventuality, first aid facilities have been arranged in fixed hospitals and mobile medical units on the way.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the uninterrupted supply of electricity, the Narejo said that higher authorities of Hesco has been approached and directed for exempting Sehwan Sharif from load-shedding during the mela and providing additional transformers and standby generators to maintain the power supply in case of any technical fault.
He said that proper arrangement for supply of drinking water, efficient drainage system, maintenance of cleanliness, removal of encroachments / obstructions, repair / construction of roads pertaining to N.H.A, provision of health facilities have already been made and being supervised by separate sub committees. Besides the arrangements for conducting Sugharan-Ji-Katchery, Malakhra and musical programme have also been finalised.
The Commissioner also expressed his apprehensions over the drowning cases at the canals especially during the annual urs celebrations and directed Revenue officers for imposing section 144 Cr. PC on the swimming and taking necessary precautionary measures so that precious lives of the people could be saved. However, he also said that authorities of Agha Khan Foundation, Edhi Welfare Trust, Chhipa Trust and other organisations providing ambulances, medicines and trained medical staff have been requested for providing help to the district administration for saving the lives of people.
The Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Nasir Abbas Soomro on this occasion announced one-day holiday on July 21, 2011 on account of annual urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA).
Later, the Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad accompanied Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro visited different sections of Sehwan Sharif and inspected the on-going arrangements.
