The prices of gold on Thursday hit another historic high mark of Rs 51, 300 per tola up by Rs 400 after the global market witnessed a surge to $1599 an ounce, traders said. Gold price gained to a new peak of Rs 43, 971 per 10 grams from Rs 43, 628 in a single day trading, showing an increase of Rs 343. The yellow metal price had closed at Rs 50, 900 per tola on Wednesday.
Traders said the local selling of gold was under cost by about Rs 500 to 600 per tola, adding that a little interest of buyers is to be seen in the business after the global market moved upward.
