Spot gold hovered around $1,600 on Thursday, with investors waiting for the outcome of a eurozone summit on Greece's debt crisis while concerns around the US debt ceiling talks continued to support sentiment.
Spot gold was nearly flat at $1,601.09 an ounce by 0601 GMT, after rising nearly 0.8 percent in the previous session. Gold hit a record of $1,609.51 on July 19. US gold gained 0.3 percent to $1,601.80.
