Sharp decline in mercury resulted into low pressure on demand side, bringing down generation and demand difference to 3000MW from unprecedented 6000MW a week earlier. Power generation during last 24 hours stood at 14290MW against a demand of 17486MW, putting the accumulative difference to 3196MW against 4010MW a day earlier.
According to Pepco sources, demand for power has reduced considerably with fall of temperature, leading to switching off of air conditioners consuming about 5000MW directly from the system. It was proven a cause of worry for power distributors, as a large number of air conditioners functional across the country were consuming electricity excessively. However, repeated spells of heavy rain in the upper part of the country and central Punjab have reduced mercury level. The power generation through hydel, thermal, IPPs and RPPs remained 5453MW, 2034MW, 6597MW and 206MW, respectively. Meanwhile, power supply to the KESC was recorded at 720MW.
