Samsung, HTC and others assure they don't slow phones like Apple

Taking advantage of the current controversy with Apple, many other smartphone companies have clarified that they do not slow down their older phones at all.

Since the past few days, Apple has been in hot waters for admitting to slow down older iPhones on purpose. Smartphone manufacturers, including Apple’s competitor Samsung, LG, HTC and Motorola, have given statements to guarantee their users that they do not indulge in any such kind of practices.

Apple apologizes for slowing iPhones, offers battery replacement

According to Phone Arena, LG and Samsung denied slowing down the processor speeds in their phones even for once. LG even admitted that it ‘never will’ do that. LG Electronics, Inc. wrote, “Never have, never will! We care what our customers think.”

Similarly, Samsung Electronics Co., LTD wrote, “Product quality has been and will always be Samsung Mobile's top priority. We ensure extended battery life of Samsung mobile devices through multi-layer safety measures, which include software algorithms that govern the battery charging current and charging duration. We do not reduce CPU performance through software updates over the lifecycles of the phone.”

Moreover, HTC and Motorola too made it clear that they do not reduce phone speeds as their phone’s batteries age. The Verge reported that HTC official said, “Designing phones to slow down their processor as their battery ages is not something we do.” Likewise, Motorola spokesperson claimed, “We do not throttle CPU performance based on older batteries.”

In the mean time, smartphone manufacturer Apple has also apologized for intentionally slowing down iPhones without informing users. However, the company offers battery replacement with a huge price cut down too, from $79 to $29.
