Sindh government after the tough resistance from the Sindhi nationalist parties has decided to restore the Local Government Ordinance 2001 in the entire province, a private TV channel reported late Sunday night. According to the channel, the decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
Quoting the Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon the channel said that Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad would promulgate the ordinance soon with regard to restoration of Local Govts across Sindh. Quoting the sources the channel claimed that President Asif Ali Zardari has instructed that Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat ul Ibad Khan to restore the Local Govt ordinance across Sindh.
It may be mentioned here that Sindh Nationalists Parties condemned the restoration of LG Ordinance 2001 in Karachi and Hyderabad, calling it a conspiracy to divide the Sindh province on the ethnic basis.
