Awami National Party (ANP) on Wednesday demanded of the government to discuss the issue of alleged figures'' fudging by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in the National Assembly. Bushra Gohar of ANP said on the floor of the Lower House that the allegations of fudging tax collections figure by FBR had damaged the country and this issue should be debated in the National Assembly.
She said that Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh should take the Parliament into confidence and brief the House in this regard. She said that the minister should give the actual facts on this issue. Earlier, the parliamentarians had demanded of the government to constitute an ''All Parties Committee'' to probe the figures fudging by the tax authorities and misleading the parliament on the actual fiscal deficit data by the finance ministry. The National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs has also taken up this issue to investigate the allegations.
