River Chenab at Qadirabad (flow 1,02,000 cusecs) and river Ravi at Balloki (flow 56,200 cusecs) were in low flood, Flood Warning Centre said here on Sunday. In a significant flood warning, it said that river Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala was likely to attain 'Low' flood level on early morning of 16th August-2011.
River Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala is likely to range from 50,000 to 70,000 cusecs 'Low' flood level during the period from 0100 hours PST of 16th August, 2011 to 0100 hours PST of 17th August, 2011.
It said that river Indus was flowing with 2,13,000 cusecs at Tarbela, 2,22,400 cusecs at Chashma, 1,33,200 cusecs at Guddu, 1,02,200 cusecs at Sukkur and 35,300 cusecs at Kotri barrage. Sindh irrigation engineers were throwing 33,500 cusecs water into the Indus delta.
River Kabul was contributing 42,000 cusecs water to Indus Zone at Nowshera, whereas River Jhelum was still with the minimal flow of 21,000 cusecs at Mangla. Irsa was releasing 16,100 cusecs downstream the Mangla dam for irrigation and hydel power generation.
It said fairly widespread thunderstorm/rain with heavy falls at isolated places is expected over Kashmir (upper catchments of Rivers Sutlej, Beas, Ravi & Chenab). Scattered thunderstorm/rain is expected over North-Northeast Punjab, Sindh & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Isolated thunderstorm/rain is also expected over Northeast Balochistan & South Punjab. In another next two to three days widespread thundershower/rain with heavy fall at scattered places & very heavy rainfall at isolated places is expected over upper catchments of Rivers Sutlej, Beas, Ravi & Chenab fairly widespread thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is also expected over North & Northeast Punjab.
Meanwhile Met Office said that the current spell of monsoon rains would continue for another 2 days in the country. More monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls expected in lower Sindh (Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas divisions) , upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions) and Kashmir on Sunday/ Monday. Heavy falls may cause urban/flash flooding in the said areas during the period.
