The 65th Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was observed on Sunday in parts of Balochistan with national fervour and solemnity. The day began with special prayers in the mosques for the unity, solidarity and prosperity of the country. 21-gun salute was presented after the Fajar prayers to mark the day in the provincial capital.
The principal ceremony was held at the "Sabzazar" of the Balochistan Assembly where Speaker Balochistan Assembly Mohammad Aslam Bhootani, on behalf of the Chief Minister Balochistan, performed the graceful flag hoisting.
Addressing at the ceremony, Speaker Balochistan Assembly said that 14th August reminds us about the vision of our Quaid Mohammad Ali Jinnah for a strong, secure and stable Pakistan.
Stressing the need for forging unity among all segment of society, he said we should join hands in upholding the golden principles for which a separate piece of land was created.
"Incumbent government of PPP in the province, led by Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani is striving hard to remove the decade-long grievances of the people of Balochistan," he noted.
Referring to the NFC award, Aghaze Haqooqe Balochistan, he said that Federal Government is serious to resolve the issues of Balochistan by taking practical measures.
He on this occasion announced Rs.3 lakh for the students of various schools who presented national songs and plays in connection with the Independence Day.
The flag hoisting ceremonies were also held at Frontier Corps Headquarters, Balochistan High Court premises and QESCO Headquarters.
Government departments including Police, FC, Education, Sports and various public and private organisations, schools also arranged seminars, conferences, exhibitions and tableaux to celebrate the day with national spirit of gaiety.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani directed the Balochistan lawmakers to celebrate the Independence Day at their divisional headquarters and constituencies.
He also urged them to highlight the importance of the day and bring the people under one flag of Pakistan. Different ceremonies in connection with the Independence Day in other parts of the province were also held.
