Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President, Mian Nawaz Sharif Tuesday said the PML-N is ready to hold another long march for provision of rights to the people. "The PML-N will not hesitate, if need arises, to hold a long march from Karachi to Islamabad for the rights of people of the country," he said while giving allotment letters to the lucky recipients of Ashiana-e-Quaid at Atari Saroba here.
Under the project, as many as 500 houses were constructed and allotted in a record time of four months while 2,200 remaining houses are on the last phase of completion. These houses were allotted through transparent balloting. About 10 percent of the total houses under the scheme were reserved for widows, orphans, families of martyrs and invalidated persons. Punjab government will provide monetary relief to the needy through monthly instalments for 10 years as well as down payment to them.
Speaking on the occasion, Nawaz Sharif said that state is custodian of its people instead of a particular section of society. "Time is not far, when there will be end of class based system and all citizens would enjoy equal rights," he said, adding: "Had dictators been held accountable of their 32-year rule, the country would have on the road to progress and people would be prosperous today."
The PML-N president maintained that basic obligation of the state is to protect the rights of have-nots. He urged the people to strengthen his hands so that he could change the country's fate and put the country on road to progress and prosperity. Highlighting the achievements made in his previous regimes, Nawaz said that a number of welfare projects including "Apna Ghar Scheme" and "Yellow Cab Scheme" were initiated apart from distributing land among the land-less people in Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. He added that 0.5 million houses under "Apna Ghar Scheme" were constructed in 1997 but these houses were sold out at throw away prices and no one held accountable for this misdeed.
Nawaz was all praise to Punjab Chief Minister for launching Ashiana Housing Scheme and said InshaAllah millions of people dream of getting their own house would be fulfilled before the next elections. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that dictators and politicians practised business in the name of politics during the last 64 years. "Due to class based system, have-nots are facing manifold problems."
He said that projects like Ashiana Housing Scheme and Daanish School System would remove sense of deprivation among have-nots. He said that Ashiana Scheme would be launched in 18 districts during the current financial year. He claimed that the scheme is the most transparent project.
