Functional foods and diets rich in nutraceuticals along with regular exercise may help reduce risk of diseases, said Professor Dr Masood Sadiq Butt in the closing session of one-day seminar on Functional and Nutraceutical Foods (Let Food Be the Medicine).
The seminar was held under Pak-US joint project at National Institute of Food Science and Technology, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. Dr Butt underlined the importance of nutraceuticals and functional foods and also highlighted the allied health benefits associated with their consumption. He was of the view that nutraceuticals have the tendency to replace pharmaceuticals.
