Power situation got tensed during last 24 hours with increase in power shortfall to 3762MW, perturbing the domestic consumers on Sehri and Iftar. Demand for power shoot up by 1000MW with increase in mercury from 17519MW to18541MW, pushing the total shortfall to 3762MW against 3045MW a day earlier. The generation, however, remain intact to above 14000MW.
Power generation through hydel, thermal, IPPs and RPPs was recorded as 6053MW, 1984MW, 6607MW and 135ME, respectively. Meanwhile, supply to the KESC was 670MW. According to Pepco sources, increase in demand with rise in mercury triggered the shortfall and it may rise further in case hot weather persists for another couple of days.
