Appointment of Akhtar Buland Rana as Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) was challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Thursday. The petitioner, Rana Illamudin Advocate contended that there were seven serious allegations against the respondent and hence his appointment as auditor general of Pakistan was malafide.
He said that Chief Justice of Pakistan through a letter to President Asif Ali Zardari had also shown concerns over his appointment and said he never qualified for promotion to grade 22. However, Zardari rejected CJP's concern and appointed Rana Buland as AGP. The petitioner has requested the court to set aside his appointment by declaring it as unconstitutional and illegal.
