If you thought your eyes are only used for vision and probably for iris scanning, you might want to think again. A new device can let you detect any brain injuries or health issues through your eye.

A company called RightEye has developed a system named EyeQ that uses eye-tracking technology to detect health issues, including autism, Parkinson’s or concussions and also provides therapeutic techniques to treat them.

Revealed at the CES 2018, the device features a portable PC, a monitor and a Tobii eye-tracking camera with it. As per the company’s CEO and co-founder Adam Gross, EyeQ has been used in schools, clinics and hospitals and also by Major League Baseball to test the athletes, reported Engadget.

New device treats glaucoma from within the eye

Along with all the tests, EyeQ performs a test known as ‘Sports Vision’ that helps detect concussions immediately. The ‘Reading Evaluation’ test helps figure out if children have reading problems from vision or it’s psychological.

“It’s the first system of its kind that can generate such amazing insights about the state of a person’s health, vision and performance abilities in this kind of rapid, accurate and objective manner,” said Gross.

The tests are in form of games or following a dot and only take few minutes to complete and generate results. The result helps show an insight about patient’s eye and brain functionality. EyeQ is particularly beneficial for its immediate results instead of general doctor tests and number of days to wait for results.

For the future, RightEye aims to make the device available for domestic use too, reported Digital Trends.
