Recognizing Southern Punjab as province: Raja Riaz, others file resolution in Assembly

Leader of Opposition Raja Riaz of PPP and Leader of PML-Q Chaudhry Zaheer-u-Din along with legislators Mohsin Laghari, Mian Shafi, Amir Talal Gopang, Yusuf Laghari and Muhammad Yar Hiraj have filed a resolution regarding recognition of South Punjab as a province, in the Punjab Assembly Secretariat. PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif has recently supported the idea of establishment of Bhawalpur province on administrative grounds.
Many legislators in Punjab still believe that beside this new resolution they would not go for division of the province and support the resolution unless similar developments take place. Former Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi is the first Punjabi politician who supported the idea of creation of province of South Punjab on administrative grounds.
