Young Doctors Association (YDA) warned Sindh Government and Dow University Management to pay salaries equal to YDA of Punjab otherwise YDA will start protests against the government and University management.
Speaking at a news conference at Karachi Press Club here on Saturday, Dr Ambreen Zaidi President Young Doctors Association (YDA) Civil Hospital Karachi said Chief Minister Sindh along with Minister of Finance and Health Minister Sindh in a press conference on June 4 had announced that the Postgraduate doctors of Sindh will be given salaries equal to the salaries of YDA in Punjab.
She said that a notification was issued from the finance department of Sindh on July 20th; in that notification it was mentioned that Postgraduate doctors of Sindh will be given the equal salaries of the YDA of Punjab but YDA of Sindh are still waiting the salaries from last four months, she added.
Dr Ambreen informed that 2.9 billion rupees package was announced for the postgraduate YDA of Sindh by Chief Minister Sindh but the salaries of YDA Sindh are still not increased equal to the Postgraduate doctors of Punjab. She said that 500 postgraduate doctors under Dow University working in civil hospital Karachi (CHK).
"We have several time contacted to the Dow University Management and discussed our salary increasing issue but no result has come yet", she added. Answering to a question she said "Vice-Chancellor of Dow University Professor Masood Hameed told them that University does not have any fund and he wrote a letter to finance department for funds but when YDA members met to finance department officials the officials told them that they have not received any letter from the University Management, she claimed.
Dr Ambreen said the same situation with postgraduate's doctors is in the other Universities in Sindh, YDA members also wrote letters to Governor Sindh, finance secretary and Additional finance secretary Sindh to solve the problems of postgraduate young doctors of Sindh and given their salaries according to the notification issued by the government of Sindh, President YDA said.
She demanded to Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad, Chief Minister Sindh, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court and Health Minister Sindh to take immediate action and solve the YDA salary increasing problem otherwise YDA will boycott of all Wards, OPD and Operation theatres of Civil Hospital and start protest against the government of Sindh and university management. Dr Amini Abdul Qaiyoume Vice-President of YDA, Assistant General Secretary Dr Hammad Ali Mithani, Dr Masroor Ahmed, Dr Uzair Ali and others were also present at the occasion.
