Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that previous regimes and policymakers gave least attention to produce electricity as per the demand of the country because of which it is facing immense energy crisis. He announced that they are going to hold an 'all parties conference' to take into confidence parties leaders about the energy issue.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating different developmental project in district Mardan on Saturday, he said that the deprived districts will be given priority, adding that all developmental projects, including Abdul Wali Khan University, would be completed without any irritants.
He said that the electricity rates should be nominal because of generating cheap hydle power in the province, saying that they have challenged the rates of electricity in the court. He, however, said that issues will be created from any kind of development, adding that we should take care of national interest along-with the province. He said the circular debt has increased due to challenging the electricity rates.
Hoti said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has disbursed Rs 16 billion from its own resources to not put burden on the consumers. He said that they are going to sign two different agreements regarding hydle power generation on October, 24, 2011, in which including 700 MW Saki Kanari, and Patran Power Project.
Similarly, he said that the government would lay foundation stone of another mega power project of capacity of 356 MW in December 2011, in which Matlan and Lavi projects would be included. He said the deprived districts will get special incentives and maximum priority. He added that the government has approved developmental package of rupees four billion for district Torghar. Projects of millions of rupees have been initiated in district Peshawar, Mardan and the rest of the province.
