More than half of 50 calligraphic paintings of seven known artists of the country, which are on display here, have so far been sold. Owner and curator of the Revivers Galleria Ms Sara Anjum gave this information to the art lovers and collectors who visited the gallery on Saturday evening to view major group exhibition of calligraphic paintings titled "The Art of Calligraphy" at the Revivers Galleria.
She said that this augurs well and is quite encouraging for the artists and the gallery and more importantly, indicates that calligraphic paintings, inscribed with verses from the Holy Quran are still very popular among the art collectors as well as the art lovers. She said that this is not all as negotiations for some more calligraphic paintings of different artists are in progress. She said hopefully, some more calligraphic paintings would be sold out before the group exhibition concludes on a success note on October 25 evening after remaining open for the artists, art lovers and collectors for a fortnight.
On display in the exhibition are as many as 50 selected calligraphic paintings of known artists Amjad Butt, Bin Qulander, Chitra Pretam, Mashkoor Raza, Mussarat Arrif, Riaz Rafi and Tariq Javed who hail from Lahore, Karachi and other parts of the country. Holy Quran verses have been rendered in attractive colours on the canvass quite impressively by these artists in different mediums mainly being oil and acrylic among others.
