Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is all set to hold its grand rally, scheduled for October 30 in Lahore despite government plea to postpone the demonstration in the aftermath of sudden death of Begum Nusrat Bhutto. The government had announced to cancel all its political activities for 40 days to mourn the death of Begum Nusrat Bhutto and requested PTI to put off its planned rally.
A spokesman of PTI said that his party had offered condolence to the PPP leadership and workers over the sad demise of Begum Bhutto. "Indeed it is a great loss to PPP. We share the grief of the PPP workers but we cannot postpone the rally which is against corruption and incompetent rulers," he said.
The country is currently in the throes of an almost unprecedented wave of protest demonstrations as protesters are calling for an end to incumbent PPP government for its alleged failure at all fronts of governance. The PTI has intensified protests against the government as part of its ongoing 'Hakumat Hatao Mulk Bachao' movement, demanding mid-term polls.
