Four persons, including three of a family, were killed in an accident on Vehari-Mailsi road in the early hours of Wednesday. According to hospital sources, Nawaz Elahi, w/o Panah Muhammad had come to Bahawal Victoria hospital to inquire after a relative but she suffered cardiac attack and died.
Upon receiving information her husband Panah Muhammad, his brother Sultan Ahmad and other relatives, r/o Basti Shaman, Vehari, left for Bahawalpur in a hired ambulance to shift deceased Nawaz Elahi to their native town. However, when the ambulance was near Adda Hari Chand, a coach collided head on while trying to avoid a bull cart on Vehari Mailsi road.
The accident left four persons dead on the spot, including Panah Muhammad his brother Sultan Ahmad, Muhammad Nawaz and ambulance driver Zulfiqar. Eight others, including five members of the family, the driver of bull cart and two passengers of the coach were injured. The injured were shifted to THQ Mailsi from where five were referred to BV Hospital. The driver of the coach fled the scene.
