Wheat, gram and makai rose while on Khandsari turned weaker on the wholesale commodity markets during the week ended on October 29, 2011. The opening day was not working being national holiday on due to the demise of Begum Nusrat Bhutto.
On Tuesday prices showed weakness wheat old and new bardan conceded Rs 5 to Rs 2655 and Rs 2670, gur prices lost sharply by Rs 500 to Rs 5000 and Rs 6500. Irri-6 Sindh was quoted lower at Rs 3050, Rapeseed N'shah registered down at Rs 2500, rapeseed Mirpur lost Rs 125 to Rs 2450 and Rs 2475, rapeseed Dadu lower type picked up Rs 25 to Rs 2175-2200, and rapeseed cakes low type shed Rs 45 to Rs 880, while better type dropped Rs 30 to Rs 900, cotton cakes with bag Sindh low type was put at Rs 1000, while better type lost Rs 50 to Rs 1050. On Wednesday wheat old and new bardan recovered Rs 5 to Rs 2650 and Rs 2675, gram Australia No. 1 rose by Rs 150 to Rs 4750 and Rs 4950, gram Australia No. 1 dal rose by Rs 200 to Rs 3750 and Rs 3950, makai rose by Rs 125 to Rs 2250 and Rs 2275, cottonseed cake with bag in Sindh conceded Rs 50 to Rs 950, better quality, however, rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1100.
On Jodia Bazaar petroleum jelly sulphanic acid soft ended up Rs 26.40 to Rs 180.40 and caustic Taiwan was quoted at Rs 75. Rangolite 'C' per pound China moved higher by Re 1 to Rs 94 to Rs 143, and from Germany rose by Rs 42 to Rs 185. Hydrogen peroxide Descon 50pc shed Rs 16 to Rs 43, Sitara ended lower by 17 to Rs 44, Korea 5pc down Rs 14 to Rs 49, and Thailand conceded Rs 15 Rs 48.
On Thursday Irri 6 Sindh quoted at Rs 3000 and Rs 3100, cottonseed cakes Sindh with bag low type shed Rs 25 to Rs 925.
On Friday no change was seen on the wholesale grain and seeds market as almost all the participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers
On Jodia Bazaar plastic moulding compounds ended down The changes were : PLASTIC MOULDING COMPOUNDS (Per lb): HDPE (FILM) - Saudia 952 went lower by Re 1 to Rs 73.50 and TR144 edged lower by Rs 1.25 to Rs 73.50. HDPE (BLOW): Marlex Singapore moved downward by Re 1 to Rs 73 and Iran closed lower by Rs 3 to Rs 71. LDPE: 374 went down by Re 1 to Rs 86. LLDPE: W118 moved downward by Rs 2.50 to Rs 70.50, 7087 finished lower by Rs 2.75 to Rs 70.25. POLYPROPYLENE (FILM): India ended down by Rs 3.50 to Rs 78.50. POLYPROPYLENE (TAPE GRADE): India edged lower by Rs 4 to Rs 76, Kuwait went down by Rs 4 to Rs 76 and Saudia finished downward by Rs 4 to Rs 76. POLYPROPYLENE (INJECTION GRADE): Saudia closed lower by Rs 4.50 to Rs 77.50 and India ended down by Rs 4 to Rs 78.
On Saturday business remained subdued. Makai low type did not move any side at Rs 2250, while the best quality was higher by Rs 37 to Rs 2312. Grams Australia was lower by Rs 100 to Rs 4650-4850 and grams Australia dal followed the same pattern, drifted down by Rs 200 to Rs 5800-6000. Cottonseeds oilcake with bag Sindh low type fell by Rs 105 to Rs 920 and better type dropped Rs 25 to Rs 1075. Prices were unchanged on the rice sector.
On Jodia Bazaar Kirana items moved both ways. The changes were: KIRANA ITEMS (Per 40 kg): White pepper closed higher by Rs 2000 to Rs 40,000, black pepper Singapore went down by Rs 2,500 to Rs 24,500, black pepper Ceylon edged lower by Rs 2,800 to Rs 24,200, black pepper Brazil moved downward by Rs 2000 to Rs 27,000, nutmeg finished higher by Rs 4000 to Rs 38,000, big cardamom closed upward by Rs 3000 to Rs 78,000, copra India went lower by Rs 50 to Rs 6,150, dry ginger (China) moved downward by Rs 500 to Rs 15,000, long pepper finished higher by Rs 500 to Rs 41,500, peanuts ended up by Rs 300 to Rs 5000, sago went higher by Rs 50 to Rs 2,950 and cuminseed closed upward by Rs 500 to Rs 14,000.
