Punjab Government is committed to control the crimes in the society and maintain law-and-order situation in the province. Necessary planning is being devised for the uplift of law enforcement agencies by providing them most modern and sophisticated resources in this regard; however, co-operation of the elected public representatives is vital for curbing the crimes.
This was stated by Punjab Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan while presiding over the meeting held at DCO Office committee room to review the law-and-order situation and pace of the implementation of development schemes in the district. The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain, RPO Aftab Cheema, DCO Naseem Sadiq, CPO Rai Tahir, MNA Begum Khalida Mansoor, MPAs Kh. Islam, Mrs Anjum Safdar, Chaudhry Shafique Gujjar, Chaudhry Raza Nasrullah Gumman, Chaudhry Shahid Khalil Noor, Rao Kashif Rahim, Dr Khalid Imtiaz Baluch and Khalil Tahir Sindhu.
The Minister informed that a strategy is being evolved for random inspection of the police stations to eliminate thana culture and proper monitoring is also being carried out for providing relief to the public under this system. Reviewing the crime situation in the district, he directed the police officers to reset their priorities regarding action against extortion, gundaism and drug-peddling and the other heinous crimes.
He said that the social evils and crimes should be controlled at initial stages to avoid big problems afterwards in the society. On pointing out some issues by the elected representatives, the Minister directed the police authorities to check the trend of registration of false FIRs to discourage the baseless and bogus litigation and the issuance of bogus medico legal certificates should also be stopped by taking action against the responsible doctors.
He said that the drastic action should also be taken against the corrupt and dishonest police officials. Stressing upon the devising comprehensive and foolproof security plan in connection with the Muharram-ul Haraam, he emphasised upon the raising of police performance regarding controlling the street crimes. Elected representatives identified the issues regarding the arrest of proclaimed offenders, corruption, slow investigation of cases, sale of narcotics and demanded effective implementation of law.
