"Debate competitions foster the thinking and analytical skills among students and constructive arguments and counter arguments help understanding each others' views thus creating a vibrant and progressive society." These views were expressed by panel of judges at inter school bilingual debate competition held at Dawood Public School on Wednesday.
Experts said, "Such competitions help students mastering the language they speak in and fine tunes their powers of persuasion. The judges took pleasure and pride in assessing the confidence, eloquence and the presentation skills of the participants."
Eleven schools including The Anchorage School, The City School, Beacon House, Happy Home, International School of Studies, Shah Walayat School, The Mama Parsi School, River Oaks Academy, St. Michael's Convent, Habib Public School and Progressive Public School participated in this inter school bilingual debate competition.
The topics for English language competition were: Is nature crueler than human beings? Has a human being scientific and technological progress far outstripped his moral progress? and Internet undermines creativity. While the topics for Urdu language competition were 'the elders don't understand children's problems, are we doing justice with Urdu, and free media is destroying our generations.' All the students presented their views and arguments with utmost zeal and confidence and left a forceful impact on the audience and students alike.
Syed Asad - Shah Walayat School was declared first while Maha Waseem - The City School and Sarah Fawad - Happy Home School got second and third position respectively in English language bilingual debate competition. Dua Akhter - Beacon House School secured first position, Ayesha Najeeb - Habib Public School got second and Rudaba Khan - Shah Wilayat School got third position in Urdu language debate competition.-PR
