Punjab government has formed a cabinet committee to ensure implementation of the plan devised for security arrangements in the province during Moharram-ul-Haram. The committee was formed by Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif during a meeting that was held to review the security arrangements for Moharram-ul-Haram, disclosed an official, here on Monday.
The meeting was told that the committee headed by Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa will visit all divisional headquarters for this purpose. It was also decided in the meeting that provincial ministers will be assigned responsibilities in different districts while both national and provincial legislators will ensure civic peace and an environment of religious amity and brotherhood in their respective districts.
It was decided that no leniency will be shown to the elements involved in violation of the code of conduct, misuse of load-speakers, wall-chalking, distribution of provocative material and inciting speeches, and stern action will be taken against them. Similarly, peace committees will be activated throughout the province. Addressing the meeting, the CM said effective arrangements had been made during the previous years for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during Moharram-ul-Haram and even better arrangements should be made this year for ensuring civic peace and religious brotherhood. He said law-enforcement agencies will have to remain fully alert to foil the nefarious designs of anti-state elements while intelligence system will have to be further improved.
