Dr Zulfiqar Mirza claims that he still enjoys the support of majority of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders in Sindh. He said this while talking to media at Sindh High Court here on Tuesday. Former provincial home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza visited Sindh High Court to meet Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) Chairman Afaq Ahmed when the latter arrived at court in connection with hearing of a case against him.
Dr Mirza and Afaq met in the corridor of the court and shared views on various issues for about half an hour. About his meeting with Afaq, Mirza said, "Afaq himself is a victim... a leader of oppressed people. I will continue co-operating with him. I have been meeting him in the past and I am with him today as well.
He said apart from a few partymen, majority of PPP leaders stand by me... this is not victimisation, but a difference of opinion. Our party leaders are supporters of the upper class and I am adherent of middle class and oppressed people, he added. He had declared that he would go to London to meet Scotland Yard authorities to hand them over proofs regarding MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq's murder case. When asked about Imran Khan's future, he replied that Imran is bowling a bouncer and hitting a six, but I will not go along with him because I fear he might be caught out at the boundary.
About PPP leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi's resignation from party membership, he said Qureshi belongs to a great Pir family... he is a great man. I can't do what he did. Replying to a question about his arrival to the SHC, Mirza said, "I can be sent to jail, so I am practising and getting myself ready to face court and appear before judges." Dr Mirza affirmed that he was going to London "without any fear," as per his commitment. Later, according to TV channels, he left for London.
