Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal (PBM) has provided Rs 27.9 million so far to families having two or more disabled persons with a total number of 1,116 beneficiaries. Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal had evolved a mechanism to register families having two or more disabled persons for provision of financial assistance of Rs 25,000 per annum once for all.
An official at PBM on Thursday said it was also not correct that hundreds of such families had been deprived to take full advantage from the said mechanism, adding that the number of applicants was much bigger than the funds available to Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal. "However, PBM is trying to accommodate the applicants to the maximum extent," he added.
The official said a disabled was eligible to apply for requisite assistance in kind or cash on plain paper or specimen application form alongwith a copy of Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC). The disabled applying for hearing aid/limbs will require formal medical advice and estimates as per IFA policy.
