Jatin Desai, a member of the delegation from Mumbai Press Club said dialogue process between India and Pakistan was moving forward and would help reduce their differences on various outstanding issues. Speaking to members of Pakistan Institute of International Affairs (PIIA) on Thursday at the Institute, he said issues being discussed in the dialogue process should be resolved in order to build confidence between the two countries and their people.
Desai said that the arrests of Indian and Pakistani fishermen for violating each other country's maritime boundary in Sir Creek area should be resolved to avoid their arrests and seizure of their boats. Another Indian journalist said that India and Pakistan cannot decide Kashmir issue and observed that Kashmiri people should decided whether they independence or intend to join India or Pakistan, he added. "Our visit to Karachi will help inform Indian people about Pakistan which would help people of both countries to come closer."
PIIA members stressed the need for visiting Indian journalists to project the correct situation in Pakistan and opening of rail route between Khokarapar in Sindh and Monabao in Rajasthan to facilitate travel of citizens by train and boost trade between the two countries. Chairperson PIIA Dr Masuma Hasan observed that terrorism was a global issue and not restricted to the sub-continent alone. President Karachi Press Club Tahir Hasan Khan was also present.
