International Productivity Congress 2011 concluded on Friday with a commitment by NPO and APO officials to continue efforts to enhance productivity in various economic areas. The chief guest of the second day was Dr Ishrat Hussain, former Governor State Bank Pakistan who stated that change in management is not easy but Pakistan is an example of great resourceful people where this can happen.
According to him, the only area where it lacks is at processes that defines fully articulated formulation of plan. He stressed on building processes that has the tendency to disseminate information. Dr Ishrat Hussain appreciated the spirit of CEO-NPO, Khawaja Muhammad Yousuf and hoped that NPO will continue to draw attention like IPC 2011 in times to come.
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Industries, Shaista Sohail said that currently we are going through a time of uncertainty and low confidence it is the task of government to use every tool at its disposal to build confidence and strengthen the economy against global threats. We understand that reform for industrial development through policy and planning is the need of time. And this is where NPO becomes more important since it has been mandated to address and fill gaps of industrial zone.
On this occasion WCPS awards were given to five honourable individuals on their valuable contribution to industrial productivity enhancement projects. Five people who were awarded included Saqib Moin-ud-Din, Dr Fakir Muhammad, Nauman Wazir and Khawaja Mohammad Yousuf.
Among other dignitaries included Chief Technical Advisor TRTA-II (UNIDO), Councillor & Consultant Bilal Qutb and Vice Chairman, House of Habib Sohail P Ahmed. Each resource speaker emphasised that how important role NPO is playing in Pakistani economy via series of capacity development programmes through mobilising international experts, giving Pakistani industry an opportunity to learn new approaches of efficiency. Ryuichiro Yamazaki Secretary General (APO) - Japan and John Heap President WCPS reiterated on congratulating NPO for organising unique event by NPO under that guidance of CEO-NPO Khawaja Muhammad Yousuf.
CEO-NPO in his concluding remarks said NPO is moving in right direction and by looking at the interest of various dignitaries who are part of the session is reflection that lot is expected from NPO. He informed the audience that it is a matter of pride for all of us that Pakistan has improved five points ahead in global productivity ranking.-PR
