Home Minister Complaint Center (HMCC) has received 4041 complaints against various departments within over a year including 1130 complaints against Sindh Police, Business Recorder learnt on Tuesday. HMCC, which operates under the provincial home department, has received a large number of complaints from October 24, 2010 to November 4th 2011.
Initially, this complaint center was established to register complaints about the law and order issues, target killing, robbery, extortion, vehicle theft, street crime, domestic violence, kidnapping, missing persons and others but people have complained against the officials/ employees of Sindh Police and the home department as well. People have also registered complaints against the Rangers, FIA, Anti-corruption and Cantonment board.
Besides, the complaints against the education, health, NADRA, KESC, defunct City District Government Karachi (CDGK) and other departments were also received. People from all over the province have registered 834 complaints through telephone, 112 through fax, 1469 by hand and only six through email.
According to a data report compiled by HMCC available with Business Recorder, a large number of complaints have been registered against the officials/employees of Sindh Police. Some 1130 complaints have been received in this regard. The state-run complaint center has received two complaints of target killings, 17 of robbery, 70 of extortion, 34 of vehicle theft, seven of street crime, 71 of domestic crime, four of kidnapping and 84 of missing persons, the report said.
Similarly, it has received 18 complaints against the officials/employees of the provincial home department, 15 against officials/employees of education, five against officials/employees of health department, six complaints against the Rangers, 14 against the Anti-corruption, nine against the FIA, seven against the NADRA, one against the cantonment board, 117 against the defunct CDGK, 14 against the KESC and 2416 against the other departments and matters, the report said.
The staff of HMCC has received 1610 reports on the issues mentioned in such complaints from the range of Karachi, 654 reports from the range of Hyderabad, 200 reports of complaints from the range of Sukkur. Around 408 complaints have been disposed off in the light of said reports and actions taken by concerned departments, report added.
According to well-informed sources inside the HMCC, staff of this center has received complaints against a large number of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSPs), Station House officers (SHOs), Sub Inspectors (Sis), Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs), Head Constables (HCs) and Constables while, many Constables and HCs have been suspended after the inquiry.
