In the wake political developments taking place in the country, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has postponed the party's public meeting, which was to be held at Gujranwala on November 25. The PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has expressed gratitude to people of Gujranwala and activists of the party for working day and night to make the scheduled meeting a success.
He said next date of public meeting at Gujranwala would be announced after Muharram. A statement issued by the PML-N says the party is deeply reviewing the memo controversy. The memo issue is very sensitive which cannot be left on mere statements and public meetings. After resignation of Ambassador Hussain Haqqani, the memo issue has gained more importance. At present, focus of the party is on memo issue and memo had raised very serious questions with regard to national solidarity.
It may be noted that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has also filed a constitutional petition with regard to 'memo controversy' in the Supreme Court. Moreover, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif met former federal minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed at his residence on Wednesday. During the meeting, various matters including country's political and economic situation came under discussion.
Views were also exchanged on internal and external challenges posed to the country. The issue of memo controversy was also discussed. Sources told Business Recorder that PML-N leadership has decided to bring back in the party fold to all those who left the party during Musharraf's dictatorship and Majid Malik meeting with Nawaz Sharif is part of these efforts.
