Likewise, other parts of the country, the Youm-e-Ashur was observed with solemnity, religious sanctity and peacefully throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The day marked to commemorate the supreme sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions at Karbala to uphold the truth.
Taziyiya, Alam and Zuljinah processions were taken out different parts of the province under the massive security arrangements. The mourners including women and children gathered in Imambargahs in a significant number later took out Zuljinah. The participants paid tribute to the martyrs of Karbala by reciting Marsia and Noha. Special seebals of tea, milk, water were set up on various routes of the procession, while food stuffs (Niaz and Longar) also distributed among the mourners.
All processions were passed though designated routes and ended peacefully. Security remained tight to avoid any untoward incident in the province. The most sensitive districts, like Kohat and D I Khan, where extra ordinary security measures were taken and curfew was also imposed for some time.
In Peshawar, mourners' processions were taken out more than 64 Imambargahs in different parts of the city, cantonment, and University town areas, while passing through designated route ended peacefully. Rescue 1122 teams were deployed to deal with any emergency situation. Paramedics from local hospitals as well as ambulances of Edhi foundation were present to provide first aid, while those suffering deep wounds in the self-flagellation were shifted to hospital.
Under the security plan, the police backed of Para-military forces covered entire procession routes in sensitive districts by the protective gadgets, like armour vehicles, sophisticated weapons, and metal detectors. Owing to extra ordinary security placement, the police had foiled a bid to target mourners' procession through planting explosive material in district Mardan. The personnel of bomb disposal squad defused the explosive and cleared the route for procession.
Later, the Shia Ulema and scholars during Shaam-e-Ghariban Majalis highlighted the significant of the Ashura and paid rich tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for the supreme sacrifice rendered by them for the cause of peace, truth, justice and righteousness.
Ulema said that Hussain Ibne Ail (AS), by refusing to take oath of allegiance to the sinful, protected honour of Islam with his holy blood engraved his name in the history in such a manner that nobody would ever have courage to erase it till the last day. They maintained that the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) at the Karbala along with his companions for the supremacy of Islam and protection of mankind would be remembered in golden words.
