Ashura, the 10th of Muharram was observed with reverence and devotion in Sialkot and Narowal districts on Tuesday. On this occasion, security arrangements were made for maintaining the law and order in both the districts. The police, Razakars and special police contingents escorted all processions to avert any eventuality in Sialkot and Narowal districts.
Two Zuljanah processions were taken out from city while third was taken out from cantonment area Sialkot. In order to provide timely medical treatment to the mourners first-aid units were set up along routes of the processions. After passing through their traditional routes the processions were terminated at their respective Imambraghas in the evening. Quran Khawani was also held at various places for the Martyrs of Karbala and 'niaz'was distributed among the poor and needy persons.
While addressing the processions, Zakireen, Ulema and religious scholars highlighted the philosophy of the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (Razi Allah Taala Anho), the grandson of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) for upholding the truth, uprightness and for the glory of Islam.
Zakireen, religious scholars and Ulema stressed upon the Muslims Ummah to forge unity among the ranks for the supremacy of Islam and averting the threats to Islam. The Muslim Ummah was confronting with varied problems and difficulties because we have become unconcerned about the spirit of Islam and Qura'an. We could overcome our multifarious problems by following the golden teaching of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and by observing the golden ethics of Holy Quran they said.
The Ulema stressed the need of moulding the lives in accordance with the tenets of Islam and making collective efforts for defusing the misconceptions developed against Islam in western countries. Islam is a religion of brotherhood, tolerance and peace, which had strongly condemned the brutalities, terrorism and teaches the respect of all religions evenly, they said.
They further said that some anti-Islamic forces were trying hard to create misconceptions about Islam by linking terrorism with Islam. The religious scholars appealed to the faithful that they should demonstrate unity, brotherhood and proved themselves as true Muslims for vanishing the misconceptions about Islam.
