The affectees of Bajaur Agency whose houses are damaged due to military operation for curbing militancy in the area would start getting compensation from Saturday (today). According to a press release of Provincial Reconstruction and Resettlement Authority (PARSA), 1955 affectees of Bajaur Agency will receive an amount of Rs 780.2 million, as compensation.
The figure of total tribesmen benefiting from government's policy of compensating the affected people stands around 9700 from Bajaur and Mohmand Agencies. Payment of compensation to these people will be made in three to four instalments, it added. The compensation has been made on the basis of survey held in 2010 for assessing losses faced by the people due to insurgency and military operation.
According to survey a total of 8605 houses were damaged due to military operation in Bajaur Agency and 1094 in Mohmand Agency, out of which 4219 were fully damaged and 5480 partially. The affectees whose houses are totally damaged would receive an amount of Rs 0.4 million and those whose houses are partially damaged would get an amount of Rs 160,000 in instalments.
According to compensation programme the 9700 affectees of Bajaur and Mohmand Agencies will receive an amount of Rs 3.2 billion, as compensation of damages to their houses. It may be recalled PARSA had already completed payments of compensation in Malakand division by disbursing Rs two billion among 10364 affected families.
