Provincial Minister for Labour, Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has directed the labour department officers for regular inspection of factories and said that if new legislation in this regard is required then complete it at the earliest. He said that inspection policy be formulated with the consultation of employers and other stakeholders.
He also directed to ensure implementation of labour laws especially for timely payment of minimum wages ie Rs 7000/- per month by the employers. He expressed these views while talking to high officials of various departments to discuss the labour issues. Secretary and director labour and Vice Commissioner Social Security, high ranking officers of industries, social welfare, law and labour besides owners and representatives of employers were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, talking to Punjab Employees Social Security Institution, Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi said that Punjab government is implementing various projects for providing modern education to labourers' children and residential facilities to them. The meeting was attended by secretary labour, commissioner PESSI, high-ranking officials of labour, health, finance and other departments.
