UK-based technology to transform Pakistan education system

The UK Trade and Investment Pakistan has introduced the SE Group of Companies that are bringing Promethean - a UK based technology to Pakistan that will help improve and transform the education system in Pakistan. The Promethean ActivClassroom will provide an interactive classroom experience in public and private sector schools and institutes in Pakistan that will increase student engagement, participation and achievement.
The technology will also decrease teacher time spent on preparation and testing and open opportunities for spontaneous questioning and boost classroom communication and discussion. Vice President Strategic Opportunities - Promethean UK, Peter Ormerod while briefing the media at the British Deputy High Commission here on Monday said the goal of this technology is to help learners realise their potential and raise their personal achievement in their lifelong learning journey. "This vision has been with us for a long time and we are committed to providing Pakistan's education sector an opportunity to benefit from this innovative technology to enhance and increase engagement in a classroom environment," he added.
He said the core component of the ActivClassroom is Activboard, which is an Interactive Whiteboard. An interactive whiteboard (IWB) is a large interactive display that connects to a computer and projector. A projector projects the computer's desktop onto the board's surface where users control the computer using a pen, finger, stylus, or other device. The board is typically mounted to a wall or floor stand.
SE Group of Companies Managing Director Mohammad Aslam Malik said the education is the fundamental and vital aspect of growth and economic development of a nation. With only 1.5 percent of Pakistan's GDP spent on education, there is an immediate need to spend on the education sector.
"The SE Group has actively been involved in the education sector for more than a decade and we are now fully committed in transforming the current classroom system in line with world standards for a brighter, developed and prosperous Pakistan," he added. The British Deputy High Commissioner and Director UK Trade and Investment, Pakistan, Francis Campbell said the one key issue that has the potential to transform Pakistan's future is education.
The UK government is strongly committed to bringing that transformation in Pakistan. Introducing such technologies in Pakistani schools and institutes will not only contribute to the betterment of Pakistan's future but strengthen the bilateral relations between the UK and Pakistan, he added.
