Deputy Commissioner, Asif Ali Memon has directed the revenue officials to strictly monitor the anti polio campaign that kicked off on Monday. Showing stern displeasure on improper awareness campaign among the people, he asked the officials to co-ordinate with assistant commissioners and 'mukhtiarkars' to ensure that health department teams visit every door to administer polio drops to children up-to five years of age in every nook and corner of the district.
During the three-day campaign, around 275,000 children will be administered polio drops to eradicate the dreadful disease once and for all, he added. He was chairing a meeting of assistant commissioners, mukhtiarkars and under training mukhtiarkars, here on Monday, to review the arrangements for anti polio campaign at deputy commissioner's office.
Memon expressed displeasure that there is not even a single banner in the city or advertisement in local newspapers or FM for awareness of the public regarding the campaign. He stressed upon the health officials to address the refusal cases properly, persuade them for having vaccination to their children and properly maintain cold storage of vaccine because frequent exposure to sunshine may reduce their efficacy. He said that there is a need of strict supervision of the campaign because of lack of check and balance, polio drops were not previously administered.
He directed the revenue officials to keep the list of doctors and mobile teams with them, make random visits and logistically support the teams wherever necessary including provision of fuel, ice and transportation. He also directed police officials to co-operate with the mobile teams at bus stands, railway station and entrance and exit points of the city to make sure that every child is reached for vaccination.
