Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif on Monday called on veteran politician and former Balochistan Chief Minister Sardar Ataullah Mengal at his residence and discussed with him Balochistan issue. Talking to newsmen after the meeting, the veteran Baloch leader warned that situation in Balochistan "had reached a point of no return."
He cautioned that "if corrective measures were not taken immediately, Balochistan may not remain part of the country." He said that the situation in the province was out of control, adding that mistakes of the past should not be repeated. He demanded that the rargeted killings of Baloch people should be stopped forthwith. Mengal said that Balochistan package announced by the government was "empty."
Nawaz Sharif, who met Sardar Mengal at his residence shortly after arriving on a three-day visit of Sindh, vowed that he would fight the case of Balochistan and would help resolve the issues with the guidance of Sardar Mengal and other Baloch leaders. He said: "I respect the views of Sardar Mengal. We love Balochistan as a valuable province." He demanded that the killers of veteran Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti should be brought to justice. Nawaz Sharif said PML-N could enter in an alliance with BNP headed by former Balochistan Chief Minister Akhtar Mengal with the permission of Sardar Mengal.
