YALA: Three people were killed, while at least eight others injured, when a bomb exploded in a market at Thailand’s southern Yala province Monday.
Yala police chief Maj Gen Krisada Jandee, who confirmed the incident, said the bomb exploded at the busy Pimonchai Market, located in the centre of Yala town, says Bernama news agency. "Two of the victims were killed at the scene, while the other died at a hospital,” he told reporters here. The number of injured is expected to increase.
The unrest in southern Thailand, especially in the Yala, Pattani dan Narathiwat provinces began in 2000 and has since claimed the lives of more than 7,000 people and thousands were injured.
