An accountability court here on Saturday awarded 14-years imprisonment to Syed Sibt-ul-Hassan Shah Gillani alias 'Double Shah' involved in making money worth 441.347 million by cheating public at large. The court also imposed a fine of over Rs 3 billion and ordered forfeiture of his property. The court fixed January 14 the next date of hearing of other accused Munawar Hussain Gilani, Syed Farhat Hassan, Chan Pir and Shaukat Ali involved in the scam.
Convict 'Double Shah' confessed to his crime before the court and told the court that there are around 4400 witnesses against him in this case but no one had been produced before the court. He told the court that it means that his case could not be decided even in coming two decades.
He said no doubt he took money from public but didn't cheat anyone. He said that he had returned more than Rs 2 billion to the NAB. Sibt-ul-Hassan, his associates and close relatives lured investors to deposit money with them on the promise of returning double their deposits.
