Project Management Institute here organised a two-day international conference under the theme 'Making Project Management Work for Pakistan', here on Saturday. The conference was attended by the profession's top brains and renowned speakers from Pakistan, US, Germany and other private sectors and academia.
In his opening address, Lahore chapter's president, Khalid Ahmad Khan welcomed participants of the symposium. He emphasised on the importance of using modern project management practices to tackle productivity and performance issues in the public and private sectors. He highlighted the work of the chapter and asked members to increase their efforts for creating awareness for project management.
Rizwan Sheikh, chapter's VP, presented an overview of the two-day programme that includes eight eminent speakers from academia and industry from Pakistan, USA and Germany. The opening session also included a ceremony to recognise 60 Project Managers who had recently attained the prestigious Project Management Professional certification. The audience of over 140 top project managers and decision-makers from public and private sectors appreciated the effort of the chapter in organising the largest project management event in the country.
Masood Said, chapter secretary, said this symposium will help highlight project management in Pakistan to a global audience. Last year, the symposium was covered in international management publications and helped in creating a progressive image of Pakistan. This conference will be helpful in achieving the goal of improving performance of projects in Pakistan.
