Former Olympians said on Sunday that the chances of Pakistan team in the 2012 London Olympics looks bleak. PHF had earlier issued notices to 13 former Olympians by levelling charges of alleged involvement of federation office bearers in human trafficking.
The former Olympians had earlier this month sent a letter to government regarding the performance of the national hockey team and gave suggestions of how to make it better.
Olympian Shahnaz Sheikh told APP on Sunday that "it is very sad that our team has already dropped from 1st to 9th spot in the ranking and the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is issuing notice to us". "The report doesn't have anything like human trafficking in it instead it has the suggestions of how to make a formidable team for the London Olympics 2012," Sheikh said. Sheikh said that "we are also taking our legal advice regarding their notice as we will fight them their way now". Olympian Salim Nazim said that "we will fight for the cause of hockey till our last breath and no matter how many notices this PHF serves them".
"Just see the PHF's performance since 2009 what have they been doing," Nazim said adding that "we will fight this notice legally and will see what they can do". Olympian Khalid Mehmood said where was the national team's coach Micheal Van Dan saying that where was he when the Pakistan China series were underway here.
