13 drown as bus falls into river

13 passengers drowned when a Layyah-bound bus coming from Karachi fell into the Indus River in Kot Mithan area of Rajanpur district on Monday. The police said that the accident occurred when Nishtar Bridge collapsed due to technical fault and resultantly 13 passengers drowned in the river. Bodies of four persons including two children were recovered by the rescue teams, however nine passengers including two women are still missing.
The police further said that total 70 passengers were on board. Thirteen of them swept away in the deep water and many were injured. The deceased were identified as Ghalam Akbar and two minor girls Shadra and Areeba.
