A National Assembly session will be held on January 12 to discuss the situation arising out of Supreme Court's strong criticism of non-implementation of SC verdict on NRO by the government. Co-chairman PPP President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani chaired a meeting of Parliamentary heads of Allies Parties at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday night.
President's Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that in the light of the proposal by the allies Parties heads it was decided that the session of National Assembly be called for Thursday January 12 at 4 PM. Before the session of the National Assembly, a joint meeting of the parliamentary parties will also be held in the Parliament house to work out a strategy to be adopted during the NA session.
The President had specially come from Karachi for the meeting of the parliamentary allies' parties, the spokesperson said. President Asif Ali Zardari after reaching Islamabad urgently summoned two separate meetings - one of the coalition partners and other of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Core Committee - after the Supreme Court verdict on National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation.
President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani also held one-on-one meeting to discuss the situation. Dr Farooq Sattar and Babar Ghauri of MQM, Asfandyar Wali and Afrasiab Khattak of Awami National Party (ANP), Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain of PML-Q, Mir Israr Ullah Khan Zehri of Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A)and Munir Orkazi from FATA, and PPP's Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Senator Dr Babar Awan, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar attended the meeting.
