The Federal government has created an artificial crisis of natural gas in the country, therefore the Punjab government has decided to approach the Supreme Court to get its due share of gas for the industries located in the province, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said here this afternoon. He was talking to media after having a meeting with office bearers of various chambers of commerce and industry.
He accused the Federal Government of step-motherly treatment to Punjab in supplying gas to the province. He said due to suspension of gas to the industries located in Punjab, the industrial activities have eclipsed and hundreds of thousands of workers have been laid off. He said there should be no shortage of energy in the country as there are alternate sources of generation of electricity but the Federal Government is wasting precious resources on rental power plants.
Shahbaz said that people would surely hold an accountability of the plunderers of the national wealth one day. In this connection, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has greatly disappointed him, he added. In reply to a question, the Chief Minister said that he had met the US Consul in Lahore in which he had made clear to the United States that it should support the democracy in Pakistan and not the corrupt people.
