Black marketing of sugar: vigilance teams directed to raid various stores and warehouses

On assumption of responsibilities, Managing Director USC, Major General Malik Muhammad Farooq (Retd), HI(M) had directed vigilance teams to get activated and raid various stores and warehouses so as to arrest the tendency of overcharging, unabated leakages and black marketing of sugar.
This was necessarily done with a view to ensure availability of quality products of daily consumption to the customers at lesser rates than the market. The USC has already reduced the retail prices (8-10%) of more than 250 items especially sugar has been made available at all stores at the rate of Rs 42 per kg. This measure has enabled USC to provide fair amount of relief to the customers as well as it has enhanced overall sales.
The team raided a store in Sarwar Colony Jhang Region and caught red handed, Assistant Sales Manager Nusrat Ali S/o Mohammad Yousaf while he was black marketing sugar at the rate of RS.45 per kg to a dealer, who was dismissed at the spot and handed over to police for legal action.
Another vigilance team unearthed a shortage of Rs 31 Lac in a store at Sarai Alamgir. Staff responsible for the embezzlement has been taken to task. Store in charge had absconded and later reportedly died of cardiac arrest. Strict orders have been issued to the vigilance teams to exhume cases of corruption and black marketing and take prompt disciplinary action against the culprits aimed at saving the Corporation from the loss and ensuring availability of commodities to the customers at lesser rates than the market.-PR
